This site is dedicated to helping baby boomers sort through the many income generating opportunities available after retirement - always keeping in mind the primary desire for time with family and travel and leisure.
We know that most boomers have dismissed the idea of "retirement" and want to pursue new passions. We also know that the needs for boomers in retirement are so much different than what our parents wanted or needed. Yes, I am a boomer myself, but just barely.
Boomers are said to be born between 1946 and 1964 - I am a 1964! So, I don't feel like a boomer, and I'm certainly not ready to retire. But, I am beginning to think about retirement in different ways. Used to be - I thought about my 401k and where we would live. Well, I don't look like I'm 42 and I sure don't feel old - I feel like I'm 28 and want to be active and healthy and productive for many many years.
So I started thinking about retirement and decided - I didn't want to wait until retirement to get out of corporate America and into a career I had a passion for. So, here I am using some of the things I learned while researching income opportunities. Hopefully some of what I learned will be helpful in your search to retire early, or earn extra income during retirement.
Hopefully the year I spent researching will help save you some time and even if you don't find anything in the opportunities we discuss - maybe some creative juices will get flowing and you will create an opportunity for yourself and maybe others.
One of the very critical personal requirements I had while doing my research - was the ability to not only create wealth for myself but to help others increase their earning potential or quality of life as well.
I wanted whatever opportunities I chose to be involved with - to be such that I would prosper while helping others become successful (not just financially - but better health and fitness too).
I was looking for wealth creation - not just a job. But most, if not all of the ideas we found would easily work just as well for folks looking to make just a little bit extra money.
There are no get rich quick schemes here - everything is going to require time and effort. How much you desire to invest will determine which opportunity you are drawn to. Again, most of the opportunities we found worked well for part timers and for work-a-holics. (we are not recommending the latter!)
The business opportunities we will discuss will be thoroughly reviewed and tested and come highly recommended from successful and prominent business leaders.
Our recommendations will all meet certain minimum criteria:
- income generation with small investment of time (this does not mean that you can not invest as much time as possible - we just won't deal with any opportunity that won't at least allow for those interested in investing 5-10 hours a week to earn income - the business must be able to be done on a part time basis. (income will depend on the opportunity and the individual).
- the market segment must be growing and in the first phase of growth (not at the peak and headed down soon). We will find industries that have enormous growth potential and ideally find those where the risk for loss is eliminated but the opportunity for wealth creation still exists. Timing is a critical factor for the recommendations.
- the product itself must also be innovative, new or there must be a new spin on the product or service that makes for a competitive advantage. The best industry and the best organization can not make up for a "me too" product. First to market or innovation is critical to success.
- the organization will have established, experienced and reputable leadership (not all opportunities will have to meet this requirement as there may be opportunities that simply require knowledge of a skill to take to market - however, the teachers of these skills will meet with the same requirement)
- funding! No matter how great the product - there must be financial backing to ensure its longevity. We will only recommend businesses or products with proper financial backing.
We don't guaranty any of the businesses - and can be held to no liability for their performance.
Some of the opportunities are in the form of - learning a particular income generating strategy (like no money down real estate). Some are internet business based, there are some network marketing - or direct selling recommendations as well.The ultimate goal will be for you to find a business that resonates with you and can fit your needs for a retirement income generating model. At the very least - your mind should be full of ideas for opportunities you didn't even know existed.
We will highlight an opportunity or two per post. Please continue to monitor the site for new postings. Although the research is primarily complete - this site is new and will take us some time to fully implement.
